The food tastes awful and it's very cool in the building. The staff is listless and unfriendly. I had the toast Hawai: the toast is not toasted and the ham doesn't taste particularly good either. The toilets are not very well maintained! I discovered mold on the sink. The decoration is boring.
Cochem is a very nice little town with a great old town, castle and the Bundesbanken bunker is also highly recommended. Will definitely go back and see and walk through the beautiful city.
Really delicious eaten! Service was friendly, competent and always there with a smile. When the sun is out in the summer, it is certainly gigantic, now simply beautiful. We recommend menu 2, menu 4, schnitzel with mushrooms, apple strudel. Enjoy the meal!
Very full. We only got a place on the covered terrace, where it was pretty cold. The croquettes for the dish I had chosen (roast wild boar with red cabbage and croquettes) had run out of croquettes. Instead, I could choose a different side dish.
The castle was really nice and small. The town is very nice and clean but I noticed that most of the restaurants located on the main road use the same pictures and layout. It is a very touristy place and to find a really good place to eat can be difficult.
If you want to eat something other than pizza or spaghetti, this is the place for you. Beef soup and veal liver with apple are just delicious! The prices are absolutely ok and so is the service.
Unfortunately it was just a slightly larger snack bar. The staff was very friendly, the restaurant was also clean and the ambience promised more than the kitchen offered. Price-performance ratio was therefore also OK. It's a shame, because the location and the locality are sure to give more
Very beautiful decor, in the city center. But Sauerbraten's traditional dish was not up to par: beef slices too thick and of poor quality. Pity !
Lukewarm food is processed quickly. Only tourists go there tomorrow new ones will come.
Unfriendly service, there were 4 people. 2 dishes were okay, 2 were ... well, drinks took forever and the glasses weren't even filled properly. We wouldn't stop here a second time
Nice food with a nice view. Royal bream and mushroom schnitzel.
We were attracted by the range of shanks and wild boar. The quality of the food is unfortunately designed for quantity, not for class. Service was ok. The restaurant itself is very nice, it's a shame that the quality of the food doesn't match it
When asked if there were also vegetarian dishes on the menu, or if something could be made, we were laughed at. Left immediately.
Unfortunately a catastrophe! At first glance, it makes a good, recommendable impression. The food unfortunately not to be recommended. The royal sea bream was turned into a mini sea bream, which was more like roasted to death .. the sauerbraten "only" sour, red cabbage simply warmed out of the glass, potato dumplings apparently finished goods from the discounter. The service was unemotional, there was no question of whether it was tasty, we had to wait longer for the second round of drinks ...
Good food, nice atmosphere
Such a beautiful place and such incompetent, overwhelmed and unfriendly staff! No greeting, you get the card and the corona registration wordlessly pushed onto the table! We waited 8 minutes for our drinks order to be accepted, and another 10 minutes for them to be processed! The food was not great, we would have expected better for the price. (See also the loveless salad). Then you wait again for the bill! PS: The restaurant is not overly visited at 4 in the afternoon. Overall not recommended!
Food was good, even if a salad with strips of poultry smelled a bit like fish. The ambience was very simple. The staff was rude. You have noticed that this is a restaurant for travelers and that they are only after the quick buck.
Price performance is not right here at all. Ignorant reception with waving hands gesturing one should choose any table. As always, you can argue about taste, but at least a certain amount of quality can be expected from the prices. Dumplings taste sandy, the roast tough and the croquettes only taste like breading.
Food was okay for the price. One dish was only lukewarm. Unfortunately, we were taken seriously by the wait staff during our entire visit, we are all aged 25. Apparently only happens to people aged 40+. With bad treatment from the staff, in my opinion, even the food can no longer tear anything.
This is the restaurant accepted our visit at 21:35 on Friday evening. We were starving and had been rejected by 3 other restaurant since their kitchen were closed. Food and service is ok. All reasonable. Great location. I highly recommend the Riesling Rose wine.
Many flies. Unable to enjoy. Service acted like it is normal to have 20 fat flies buzzing around your plate. They say it is because we ordered Schweinhaxe. The day before we had a good dinner near the river without insects. Proving that it is possible. I assume the hygiene around this restaurant is not taken seriously.
Quick service and great food
It was disaster. Food and service is really bad in this place. We were really dissapointed. Never again!!!
Fine! Great views of the river and banks. Old but very well maintained city. Lots of great local wine. Excellent cuisine in local restaurants. Calm, resort atmosphere. Great place to stay. I'll go again!
Cohem is very touristic but still worth a visit. One of the best castles on Rhein and Mosel
Hidden under the generous onions and potato puree was the smallest piece of liver I have ever been served. My wife ordered Schweinehaxe which immediately attracted a swarm of very persistent bluebottles. We could not eat our meal in peace because of the flies. The service was good, despite the restaurant being full.
Food Was boring and tastless. Waiters were not very friendly and we felt not welcome at all. Would not go back there. Sad because the restaurant Was very nice and traditional.
Comfortable atmosphere and wholesome food.
Beautiful village with great shopping and food choices. Quite scenic with the local castle overlooking it.
It was very nice. We had wine and federweiser
Really bad food!
Wonderful, romantic, beautiful place with live music and great food!?
I would love to go back to this lovely place
I ordered the pig knuckle, a dish I am familiar with, but hearty. I waited until I had appetite. My husband ordered lamb steak. My experience: the pork knuckle was not roasted, rather dropped into a deep fryer. So the outside third was hard and inedible. The inner portion was passable but not enjoyable. The lamb was tough. Our experience was destroyed by hordes of flies, which made every mouthful a challenge. Staff watched and laughed as we swatted flies away from our food. No one helped. Eventually, we took our plates inside, without assistance. And we had to insist on seeing the manager. Who didn't care. Unsanitary. Don't bother. As a post script, the manager dropped the charges for the food when I said I was writing a review.
Service was not very good, not really friendly. We ordered a Wiener Schnitzel and a Schnitzel mit Champignons Sauce. The food was not of good quality. A real tourist trap!
Rude waitress and employees. My spouse watched the waitress make a negative look and comment about me to her co-worker immediately as I walked in. It ruined the experience dining at this restaurant. The Mushroom sauce was good but the Schnitzel over salted. Not friendly to tourists, go somewhere else.
Very good food, friendly staff. Nice German restaurant atmosphere.
Good food for reasonable price
Very near to the Cologne bridge. This is a very touristy place. We ordered black forest and honestly it was the worst black forest cake I have ever eaten. All the drinks and coffee were fine but very expensive. The Riesling tasted like a low quality supermarket bought one. There are excellent cafes in Cochem and if possible avoid this one.
Wonderful location, no doubt it's been a restaurant and inn on this corner since time began. Food was just OK, wine decent - especially the dry Riesling was good. Staff was OK but could have been more attentive. Great upstairs terrace overlooking the bridge.
Seher Seher schön. Very nice but in my opinion 1 day a little here.
Cochem is a nice old town that is flooded by tourists. A walk to the castle is a steep walk but nice to do.
Good food, friendly servants, easy gluten free food
Amazing
Service very good, food a bit to heavy for us. Price value is very fine.
Excellent service
Food we don’t understand. Ordered some kind of fleisch and the waiter came back with approximately half a pig! It tasted really good though, but the amount of food was big enough for a family. Go to this restaurant when you are really hungry, order the ”haxe”. You will not have to eat for a long time after the ”haxe”.
It's almost a tourist trap. The service was okay, but the food was really unacceptable. The "Sauerbraten" was not properly made. It was made by pre-boiled beef, mixed with some suspicious black sour sauce, doesn't make a good taste at all. The "Knödel" tastes like rubber, totally inedible. Although the service was bad, it is the least important thing for a restaurant. One star for the food.
Fast service, food was ok for the price. Service could be improved.
I enjoyed my meal here a few days ago. For travelers, the staff speaks some simple English.
